Hope some of these might help .... SORE TROAT? Try orangano. Steep 1 tsp. in boiling water, cool and then use as a gargle. It kills germs on contact. RUNNY NOSE? Try cinnamon it helps dry up mucus. Srrinkle on toast or put a stick in your tea or cider. STUFFED UP? Try peppermint. Sip peppermint tea and /or inhale the steam, or put peppermint oil on your pillow! CHEST CONGESTION? Try Licorice. Sip Licorice tea or for those of you hate the taste try 500-mg capsules of licorice root. ( don't use if you have high blood presure) COLD COMING ON? Garlic- raw toasted or capsules 500-mg daily NAGGING COUGH Try thyme 1 tsp. in a cup of hot water drink like a tea. HAVE THE CHILLS Try ginger tea You can find it in most grocrey stores or make your own with a slice of fresh ginger root in hot water. If you have any questions about any of these please feel free to ask. Katrina I wish I could have gotten some of these to you sooner. I am NOT saying all of these are IC friendly. But they are worth trying before trying OTC drugs. They are safer and cost a lot less. JOY This post has been edited by JOY on January 08, 2007 05:46 pm |

Nothing there screams not IC friendly to me!
When I have a problem with some herbs it is often my IBS that doesn't like the herb....peppermint is one that makes others easier to tollerate since it is a strong antispasmodic...I take it before I take garlic :) GREAT POST JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: |

Did you know that Xylitol, a sweetener found in many chewing gums and in mints, inhibits the growth of certain bacteria that cause ear infections??

Xylitol is an excellent choice for a natural sweetner. You can get it @ health food stores. It's in the toothpaste that I use, I'm a picky person too, if it doesn't taste good then I won't use it, I like it :P (unless it's an absolute necessity)

Sinus headache today for me. I don't seem to respond well to drug antihistamines so I always need alternatives ....especailly for the congestion.

now that I take Celexa, I can't take most herbal things, I've been Googleing everything!
That's okay, I'll keep taking antibiotics til this sinus stuff is gone once & for all :D I've been using Boroleum ointment in my nose @ night, a humidifier in our bedroom & Vicks on my chest, all are helping. Started Amoxicillin yesterday for the 3rd time since Labor Day, my doctor's office said no one's been able to get their sinuses under control this season, even the nurse has it & can't get rid of it. :grouphug:    |
